Moving sale find from Craigslist

After a bit of negotiating on the home front I have a new old machine added to my collection.  This machine is quite able to be used with a new ribbon, a dust-off and patience to manually align the paper after a carriage return.  I think I will wait until I can clean and adjust it before installing a good ribbon and using it.

  1. Excellent find! Circa 1930, I'd guess.

  2. Oh, this is just gorgeous! And the color scheme is so unusual too. Reminds me of the Continental that escaped me at Retro Technica this year... sigh.

I think there are places you can take the rubber rollers so that they can be recovered with fresh rubber and work properly, if you are willing to make the investment at a later date. Once that is sorted out, there is no reason this shouldn't type very nicely... I have similarly-aged typewriters from Erika and Remington that I sometimes prefer using over my Hermes 3000s. I guess I'm just impressed that they continue to write - even if not absolutely perfectly - and that gives the text character.

  3. The third photo after the typecast irritated me. I had to look twice or even more to be sure it isn't wood!

  4. I thought the same thing when I first saw this machine posted on Craigslist.
